The Historical District of Buenos Aires is the oldest area of the city, since it was here that the first Spanish residents settled in 1580. Montserrat is one of the neighborhoods located within the historic centre and is home to some of the oldest buildings in the city such as the Cabildo, Plaza de Mayo and “la manzana de las luces.”

At the same time, located inside the historic centre is the elegant neighborhood of La Recoleta, also known as “La París argentina”, a name that was given to it thanks to the great French immigration since 1840 and its consequent architecture. Within the boundaries of this neighborhood are numerous historical and cultural spaces, such as the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Recoleta Cemetery, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar with its cloisters and many others.
